| PML-N candidate elected as first-ever mayor of Islamabad |

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s candidate Sheikh Ansar Aziz was elected as the first-ever mayor of Islamabad. According to unofficial results, PMLN Sheikh Ansar Aziz secured 49 votes against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Raja Khurram Nawaz, who received only 26 votes. The ruling party’s Chaudhry Riffat Javed, Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi and Muhammad Azam Khan have also been elected as deputy mayors of the federal capital.
